Art in a Bag, or Studies in Color

The prompt: simple.

The experiment: worthwhile.

The outcome: pretty incredible.

I was looking for something to keep the kids busy that wouldn’t be too messy. I thought it was about time to finally try the Pinterest craft of painting in a bag, thereby creating a mess-free work of art. The idea is to put a piece of paper in a ziploc bag, drip paint in, close the top securely, and then let the kids press the colors around to make art.

A couple things we learned:

  1. Acrylic paint is too thick to really work, but the paintings are still pretty.
  2. Food coloring works very well but you do end up with a blend/brown of colors at the bottom of the bag.
  3. My children created works of modern art worthy of the Tate in 5 minutes without making a mess.

Yeah, color me impressed.

You really can’t argue with mess-free painting!  ðŸ˜‰
