On the First Week of Christmas…

Merry Christmas! The season has begun!

One of the first things we did this year is this Christmas tree window decoration. I started by taping contact paper to the window, sticky side facing me. Then I outlined a Christmas tree using some green paper scraps I’d saved from cutting out another project.

Next came the decoration! I grabbed blue, green, red, and yellow tissue paper squares and let the kids go crazy!

It turned out so beautiful!

Next on our list was our first batch of neighbor gifts. We made hot cocoa mix and then put it in creamer bottles I decorated as snowmen.

A Christmas tradition we started last year was to make ornaments for each other for Christmas. This year we made the ornaments together as part of putting up the tree. I found this adorable art at Life Over C’s.

I printed the images on label sheets, cut them out, and then had the kids (ended up being just Bean who was interested) stick them on assorted ball ornaments (gold for the holy family, green for the shepherds and sheep, silver for the three wisemen).

I love them even with the wrinkles! My goal is to have more nativity decorations this year to remind us of the true reason for the season!

Next was some new felt play to keep the kids busy since next week I hope to plunge into the myriad of baking planned this year! First up were some magnetic snowman decorations for the fridge.

Following on that line, I took cork boards (because felt clings great to them) and hot glued a snowman form on one side and a Christmas tree on the other.

Then I gave the kids a variety of felt shapes and let them decorate! (I admit I did these ones as examples for them. 😉)
