“Father Abraham had many sons, oh, many sons had Father Abraham. I am one of them, and so are you, so let’s all praise the Lord!”
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for weeks now thanks to planning this Abraham lesson. It’s the only song I could think of to go along with the lesson, but thankfully it’s an interactive, get-the-wiggles-out song! (If you’re not familiar with it, here’s a link to the song on YouTube. Good luck getting it out of your head. 😉 )
For snack this week, my co-teacher made mini chocolate cupcakes and gave the kids little star sprinkles to decorate the tops. They were gobbled up quickly, to say the least!
This week I got to teach about God fulfilling his promises to and through Abraham. It was really difficult to find any ideas that didn’t involve stars and in the end, that’s the route I went, too.
Unfortunately the kids were just too wiggly this week to sit through more than one craft, so we just did my first idea: magic scratch stars.
I had also planned to take large silver and gold stars and decorate them with glow-in-the-dark stars for hanging in their rooms. Thankfully my hunt coincided with preparing for trunk or treat where we’ll be doing a Peter Pan themed trunk, so all the extra silver and gold stars will be seen hanging in the back of our car for ambience. (I’ll be sure to share pictures of that next week since this post will be going up on Halloween morning before all the evening fun!)
We sent them home with a coloring sheet, too, that some of them had colored in class and others didn’t.
It was a tough week for getting the lesson through, but hopefully we said often enough “God keeps his promises” to help the kids remember!
