A Scavenger Hunt to Remember

Happy Memorial Day!

Lest we forget why we had a three-day weekend, I want to start by saying thank you to all those who have served, are serving, but especially on this Memorial Day, a thank you to those who gave their lives for this country so that I might be free to raise my family as I see fit. Thank you.

Now, remember how I had this awesome Easter egg hunt planned and we didn’t get to do it that weekend? Well, this weekend we did, and it went so well!

In their baskets I had prepped bubbles, play dough, and fish cracker “carrots,” along with a printout of the Jelly Bean Story Prayer (found at this blog). Then I told the kids they had to go outside and find one egg of each color! They helped each other along the way and had so much fun!

Some of the colors were not quite matched, like I had blue eggs with black jelly beans and bright pink eggs with red jelly beans. Also I couldn’t find purple or pink jelly beans so I used M&M chocolate eggs instead. But the kids didn’t seem to mind! (Except that apparently my husband is the only person in the world who likes black licorice jelly beans… 😉 )

For the parents I had an Easter cookie mason jar (found at this blog) for take-home baking!

All in all, it was a successful scavenger hunt, if I do say so myself, and we had a wonderful time together playing for hours afterward!
